NSPCC – Thanks

Thank you to all our parents who supported the NSPCC on Wednesday by donating £1 and sending the children into school wearing green.  We raised £74 which school then rounded up to £100.  The children enjoyed the presentations and workshop and once again we had lovely feedback about how well-mannered they were, how well they listened and how responsive they were.  It is wonderful that the children receive such praise from visitors to the school.

Harvest Tea

A reminder that we are hosting Harvest Tea for grandparents on Wednesday afternoon.  The KS2 children will be preparing sandwiches during the day and we would very much appreciate any donations of cakes you can offer which can be sent in that morning.  Please pass the message on to any grandparents that we will be welcoming visitors from 1:30pm onwards.

Harvest Church Service

The church service will begin at 1:30pm, in church on Friday afternoon.  The children will be leaving school to walk to church at approximately 1:15pm and, we require at least 10 volunteers to assist us with that walk.  We have a number of staff who are not timetabled on a Friday afternoon and others who are missing due to meetings and courses so if you are able to walk down then please mention it to either myself or another staff member so we can ensure we have enough adults to keep the children safe.

Mr Procter’s class will be delivering the main harvest presentation but all classes will be sharing a song and a poem.  We will be collecting for the Food Bank again so any donations of food can be brought in on Friday and we will take them to church with us.

Any parents who attend the church service are free to take their child home afterwards but, as usual, we would ask that all children return to school so they can be dismissed safely in the usual way.

Scholastic Book Fayre

The Book Fayre will be taking place on Friday from 2:30pm – 4:30pm.  Parents are welcome to attend with their children or, if you are unable to attend, the children are free to purchase a book using their ‘Book Bank’ savings.  Children should present their savings sheet when buying a book and the amount they spend will be noted on it.  Any unspent funds will be returned to them the following Monday (17th Oct).  Thank you so much for encouraging your child to save their pocket money for books which are a worthy purchase.

Parent’s Evenings

Please note that we have timetabled parent meetings to take place in the first week of November.  Class lists will be available next week in the Children’s Entrance for you to indicate your preferred day and time.  If you do not come into school and are unable select your time then please do send in a note or contact the office and we will aim to get you a time slot you’d prefer.

Midday Supervisor Post

As you know we have been advertising for a suitable person to take on the role of Midday Supervisor due to Mrs Slater retiring.  These positions are typically difficult to fill because of how the hours are distributed over the week.  If you do know someone who is interested, or could commit to the hours of 12:00pm – 1:15pm each day, then please do encourage them to apply.
