Mrs Foote would like me to remind parents of KS 2 children that swimming for years 3 and 4 starts again on Monday 23rd February, our first day back. Year 5 and 6 are now finished for the year.
Almost all the nativity photos have been collected now. If you still have not picked up yours then can you collect it from school. I would just like to say a huge thanks to Mr Kilty for all his efforts in taking and producing the lovely pictures and also to members of Friends of LAMPS who have organized orders and payment. Your continued support is very much appreciated.
There has been a very good response to the KS2 residential which will go ahead as planned. I have had some queries from parents as to why the cost has increased so much this year. Previous residential trips have been heavily subsidized by school from various different funding streams. As a new headteacher with a different perspective, there are many areas of school that I would like to invest in and improve which will impact on teaching and learning directly. Therefore my priorities are to update resources, increase teaching space and enhance the delivery of the curriculum through investing in ICT. For this reason, school will not be contributing to the cost of the overall trip although Friends of LAMPS have kindly offered to pay for transport. However, residential trips provide many benefits to children and, as a school we do not want any child to miss out due to financial restraints so if this is an issue then please do come in for a discussion about how we could possibly help.
Miss Bleasdale has recently completed a training update for the Kidsafe programme which she will be delivering to all year 2 pupils after half term. Parents of year 2 pupils are invited into school to discuss the content of the programme with Miss Bleasdale and will also be sent a letter each week that provides an overview of what the children have discussed.
Breakfast and After-school Club Provision
It is extremely important to me that the current arrangements for before and after school childcare meet the needs of our pupils and parents. I will soon be meeting with Mrs Parton who manages the provision to review the existing set up so please do contact me with any comments, either positive or constructive, that would assist me in ensuring the service is what you need it to be.
On a final note…
As we come to the end of my first half term, I would just like to thank you all for the wonderful welcome that I have had to the school. The past 6 weeks have flown by but I have enjoyed every second and feel as though I have been here forever. I look forward to working closely with you now and over the years to come to take the school from strength to strength.
I will add to these each week whenever new events or activities are arranged. More information about each event will be provided near the time.
