Warmer weather

As the days are getting warmer, can I remind you to ensure all children have names in jumpers and cardigans to avoid them getting lost when the children strip them off.  Also, sun hats are a good idea for playtimes.  Children are welcome to bring in sun cream as long as the bottle is labelled.  Children will be encouraged to apply it themselves however pupils in Class 1 will be supported with this if needed.  If you are not happy with this arrangement then please contact Miss Stewart.

Mr Vial has also asked if you can ensure that KS2 children have a water bottle in school on their PE days as we are now making use of the playing field which means access to water is not as easy.

Walk to School Week

We have decided to participate in the county wide ‘Walk to School Week’ initiative.  This will take place in the week beginning 15th May.  The children will be given an activity diary and will earn stickers and rewards for walking to school that week.  This is an excellent opportunity to reinforce the message of good health, exercise and road safety so if you can participate, please do.  Walking from Breakfast Club will count and, even if you live out of our catchment and need to drive, if you can park in the village and walk up or drop your child off at The Green, this will also earn them their sticker.

Appointments

Just recently we have seen an increase in the number of children who are leaving during the school day for routine appointments.  We understand that some appointments in school time cannot be avoided but if it is possible for these to be taken outside of school hours, we would appreciate it if that were the case.   Also, we are conducting many assessments during this period at it can be unsettling if children are taken out which doesn’t help their performance and complicates our timetables and daily routines.

Wind turbines

We have been invited by Energy4All Ltd to enter into a competition with Ireleth St Peter’s CE Primary to name 5 new wind turbines that are being installed near to both our schools.  Next week the children will be producing some artwork to submit alongside their ideas for names.  The chosen names will be displayed on the turbine for its 20 year life span. It would be fantastic if our pupils were successful!  Please feel free to discuss the competition with your child and inspire them with lots of ideas which they can then bring back into school with them.
