Mrs Smith took a team of year 6 pupils to a netball competition last Friday at Dowdales. The children spent the week beforehand practising their shooting skills which paid off as they came first due to being the team that scored the most goals. They are now in training for the finals on Tuesday 24th March.
On Monday your child will be bringing home a letter notifying you about parent’s evening which we will be holding on Tuesday 24th March. All year 6 parents will be expected to attend to discuss their child’s progress with Mrs Hoekstra. I will see the parents of pupils in year 4 and 5, Mrs Smith will be available from 4pm to meet with parents of year 2 and 3 pupils and Mr Loughrey will meet with those from reception and year 1. Please return your slips as quickly as possible so that staff can allocate you a time.
We have been advised of 2 definite cases of Chickenpox in the school. Symptoms are flu like and include headache, high temperature and nausea. The NHS advise that the rash, which usually appears later, starts as itchy, red spots that develop into blisters and then eventually crust over. Please see your GP if your child does show any of these symptoms especially if they may have contact with any expectant mothers as the infection may pose a more serious risk to pregnant women and unborn babies.
Friends of LAMPS
I am very sad to announce that Louise Cooper has resigned as Chair of the LAMPS PTA. Mrs Cooper has worked tremendously hard with the committee to raise significant amounts of money for the school and her efforts have been very much appreciated. We are very lucky that Mrs Cooper’s position will be replaced by the vice chair, Jane Smith, who is already very busy arranging future fundraising events such as the annual plant sale and a possible film night that we will be holding for pupils at the end of this term. If you would like to keep up to date with the work of the PTA then please join the ‘Friends of LAMPS’ facebook page and come along to the next meeting which will be held in school at 7:30pm on April 20th.
Red Nose Day
I would like to say a very big thank you to those who donated cakes to be sold today. With your help and generosity, the school council has managed to raise an amazing amount for this very worthy charity. I will give you the exact figure next week.
Easter Sports Camp
DowdalesSchool will be holding an Easter sports camp which will involve basketball, netball, athletics, football, tennis and lots more. The activities will be held on Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st March from 10am until 3pm and will cost £10 for one day or £15 if you book both. We have been given a limited number of leaflets and booking forms so if you are interested then please see Mrs Smith and she will provide you with the information you need.
I will add to these each week whenever new events or activities are arranged. More information about each event will be provided nearer the time.
