Lindal Gala

Tomorrow is the Lindal Gala which takes place on the village green.  We had planned to show a dance that KS2 children have been learning but unfortunately because the children have had limited opportunities to practice, and our apprehension over the weather, we have decided not go ahead with that.

However, school will still be supporting the gala with our ‘Adopt a Teddy’ stall and I would like to say a huge thank you to all those who have brought in donations of teddies today and made that possible.

Sports Day

We were very fortunate with the weather for the KS2 residential but not so lucky for our Sports Day event this afternoon.  We have planned an alternative date which will be Friday afternoon next week.  It is National Schools Sports Week next week and we will be busy with various sporting activities every day.  We have a tennis coach in to work with selected pupils, yoga for KS1, Bev Jones (athlete) visiting, an orienteering competition and a football competition at Low Furness.  Hopefully the children will still have energy left for racing on Friday!

 Wind Turbine Competition

You may remember from a previous newsletter that High Winds Community Energy Society approached our school and asked us to participate, alongside Ireleth St Peter’s, in a competition to name 5 newly installed wind turbines that are located between the two schools.  Our pupils produced some fabulous artwork to go with their ideas for name and this was given high praise.   The winning names are as follows:

Cloud Catcher    Evie Jessett

Au-gust-us          Harry Mayou & Leilah Pybis

Mistral                 George Kilty & Ireleth St Peter’s pupil

Harlock Angel    Ireleth St Peter’s pupil

Boras                  Ireleth St Peter’s pupil

All children who entered received a certificate today.  The winners also received a £10 Heaths voucher and each school has been given a donation of £100 which we are very grateful for.

 Music Concert

Our summer music concert will be held on the afternoon of Friday 7th July and preparations are underway.  We will be having our first full run through on Monday afternoon next week so please can all the children who have a brass instrument, and all others who will be performing with their own instrument, bring them in on Monday for this rehearsal. Thank you.

Diary Dates

These are useful dates for your diary that will be added to each week.  More information about each event will be provided nearer the time.
