Lindal Gala

Lindal Gala was a huge success for the church despite the damp, windy weather forcing many activities inside.  It was lovely to see ex pupil Blossom Howell hand over her title of Gala Queen to Evie Parton who looked beautiful in her dress.  Our ‘Adopt a Teddy’ stall raised £40.50 which contributed to the impressive total of £1022.96.  Thank you to all of our parents who donated teddies or came to the event, particularly those who do not live in Lindal and travelled especially to support the village and church community.

Music Concert

The Summer Music Concert will be taking place next Friday afternoon.  Unfortunately, due to the size of our hall and the anticipated size of the audience, the concert will be weather dependent.  If the weather does force us to cancel, we will make every effort to rearrange.  Parents can arrive from 1pm and the concert will begin at 1:15pm. If the concert finishes before 3:15pm, parents/grandparents are welcome to take their children home but must inform us on the day that this is their intention.

Please can ALL Year 3/4/5/6 children bring their brass instruments into school on Monday.  They can be left in school for the week as we will be taking every opportunity practice before Friday.  Also, can all other children who will be performing with their own instrument, bring that in too.

Uniform from September

We have had many compliments over the year from other schools about our PE kit and how smart the children look at competitions which makes me even more excited for September when our new uniform is to be in place.

Just to remind you, we will be giving all pupils a new school tie (on elastic) at the end of term.  The rest of the uniform must be as follows:

A   white cotton shirt

Navy   or tartan skirt/pinafore or navy trousers

Navy   v-neck sweatshirt/cardigan with small logo

Black   shoes

White/navy   socks or navy tights

Navy   & red striped tie

A   white cotton shirt

Navy   shorts / trousers

Navy   v-neck sweatshirt with small logo

Black   shoes

White/navy/black   socks

Navy   & red striped tie

Identity in Barrow can provide the whole uniform and their white shirts will have a ‘LAMPS’ logo on them.  Whilst these are very smart, they are not essential as I know some parents prefer other shops for more general items.  Sweatshirts and Cardigans should be purchased from either Identity, Coniston Corporate or Tesco Uniform as these companies use our approved logo.  If there is a particular need for a garment to be purchased elsewhere and then embroidered, we can provide permission and the logo jpeg to other known establishments if necessary.

Extra-Curricular Clubs

Please note that there will be no extra-curricular clubs next Thursday due to Classes 2, 3 and 4 (and most adults) being out of school on their trips.  This will only affect Year 1 children. All other clubs that week will continue as normal.

Just a reminder that absences due to holidays in term time will only be authorised if the circumstances are exceptional.  The average expected school attendance is 97% and the DfE threshold for causing concern is 90%.

I have been reviewing individual attendance records and there is an increasing number of children whose attendance has dropped below average due to holidays in term time combined with sporadic days due to sickness.  Whilst I understand that for some families holidays in term time are more affordable or a necessity due to work, I would urge you to consider the fact that poor attendance impacts negatively on academic achievement and social development.

The parents of any pupils who have attendance that has reached, or is very close to reaching the threshold for causing concern, will receive a notification next week.
