Parent’s Evenings

Our Autumn Term Parent’s Evenings will take place on Wednesday 1st November and Thursday 2nd November.  There will be appointment sheets in the entrance hall from Monday for you to sign.  Please ensure you sign the correct sheet.  If you do not get chance to come into school because your child walks, or attends the Breakfast and After-school Club, please feel free to ring or email Mrs Gallagher who will endeavor to book you in at your preferred time.

Friends – Future Plans

We had a very productive meeting this Monday and it was fantastic to discuss the many successful events that have taken place and also some different ones planned for the future.  The Summer Plant Sale has always been a very popular event but sadly, all good things must come to an end.  Vicky Smith will no longer be able to provide the plants for this event so the Friends have decided to hold an Easter Fayre in school at the end of the Spring Term.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank Vicky for them many years she has done this, I know the Plant Sale has always been very well attended with so many members of the community choosing our sale to buy their plants from the sale each year.  Once again there will be a Valentines Disco arranged for the children in February and also the Coffee Morning held at The Coronation Hall in spring.  The Friends will also be recruiting a secretary next term as Mrs Slater has decided to stand down so if this is a role you might be interested in then please see Mrs Smith or Mrs Gallagher.

This week Miss Stewart and I have attended 2 training days for a programme called Read Write Inc Phonics.  This is a highly recommended programme that is used country wide however there are very few schools in Cumbria that have it in their schools.  We are enthused and excited by the fact that this programme will transform the way reading and writing is currently taught and we can’t wait to make a start.  Parents will be invited in for an information evening next term to learn more about it.

Harvest – LAMPS presentation at St Peter’s Church

Thank you for the generous donations of food that the children were able to take to church this afternoon and a special thank you to those parents who were able to walk with us.  It is always nice to visit the church and go out into the community and without your support this would be very difficult.

Harvest – Afternoon Tea for Grandparents and Senior Citizens

Just a reminder that our Harvest Tea for Grandparents and Senior Citizens in next Friday at 2pm.  The children will be performing the same songs, poems and prayers that they did today but it is a lovely opportunity for grandparents to relax with a cup of tea and piece of cake and enjoy seeing pupils from every class.

Please can I ask for donations of cakes to be brought in on Friday morning.  Thank you.
