Dear Parents/Carers and Children,

Today has been a fantastic end to a fantastic term.  It has been marvellous to watch all the staff coming together to provide Easter fun and games for the children and just as fabulous to see those children working so wonderfully together and looking after one another.  It sums up everything about our delightful school!

End of term social

We held our first social event for the children on Wednesday night which was attended by over 50 children and was a brilliant success.  I would like to say a huge thank you to Jane Dixon-Smith who did a superb job of organising the evening and was assisted by Lou Slater, Tracey Stables and Jane Parton.  A job well done!  It is intended that future events will be held on the last Friday of each half term so if you have the time available and would like to volunteer to help supervise forthcoming nights then please see Jane or any other members of the Friends of LAMPS.

High Five Netball

The children played very well in Tuesday’s netball competition at Hoops.  They were the only team from a small school and were placed a fantastic fourth.  As usual the teamwork and good sportsmanship on display from our children was outstanding.

Year 1 Parents – Phonics Information

Pupils in year 1 will be completing a phonics screening check in June.  I would like to invite the parents/grandparents of these children into school on Tuesday 14th April at 3:15pm for a 10 minute discussion about what the screening check involves and how you can support your child.

As the warmer weather approaches you may be thinking about purchasing new items of uniform.  Up until recently uniform displaying the school logo has only been available from Coniston Corporate online.  Identity in Barrow-in-Furness now supplies uniform with our logo and you will also be able to purchase selected items through TESCO’s Uniform Easy service which is a very similar set up to Coniston in that items are ordered online.  The intentions are to provide you with more choice regarding cost, where and how they purchase uniform.

As a reminder the uniform policy is as follows:

  • Grey/Navy pants, skirt or pinafore
  • White polo shirt with logo
  • Navy sweatshirt with large logo
  • Blue check/striped dress in summer
  • Navy PE Shorts
  • WhitePE shirt with large logo
  • Fleece with logo (optional for pe/outdoor activities)

I will add to these each week whenever new events or activities are arranged.  More information about each event will be provided nearer the time.

Termly Achievers

Instead of our usual certificates, today the children were given Headteacher Awards.  Class teachers were asked to choose one child from each class who has stood out to them this term for reasons such as achievement, effort and behaviour.

All teachers agreed that it was very hard to choose because all the children have worked so well and so hard this term!
