I would like to welcome Joey Coates and his family to Lindal School.  Joey has joined the Rowan Class and is a Year 2 pupil.  He has made a great start this week and we hope Joey will be very happy here with us.

York Residential

We are in the process of finalizing bookings for the Key Stage 2 residential trip to York in June.  We have some very exciting activities planned such as a visit to Yorkvik, The Castle Museum, zip wiring and a climbing wall and the York Dungeons (or possibly The Chocolate Story for those who’d prefer not to visit the dungeon).  I have been to York this week to see the YHA accommodation which was fabulous with lots of green space and the food was superb.  We have 32 children booked on and they are guaranteed to have a fantastic time.  If you have any questions regarding the visit or booking then please do not hesitate to speak to myself or Mrs Gallagher.

Ulverston Victoria High School

We were very sad to hear that Mr Fay will be retiring as head teacher of UVHS in April.  Mr Fay is very popular amongst the students and has worked very hard over 10 years to make UVHS the fantastic school it is.  We wish him well in his well-earned retirement.

LAMPS have been working more closely with UVHS this year, alongside other schools in the Ulverston area.  We have formed a group called UDECC (Ulverston and District Educational Collaborative Community) with the aim of strengthening partnerships and maximizing resources between schools.  Each year we will agree on common priorities and development areas.  This year there is a focus on transition and the emotional well-being of pupils.

On Thursday 1st March UVHS are hosting some well-being workshops for Year 2 and Year 6 which our pupils will be attending and then there will be a staff INSET after school that day.  I am very excited about this new partnership and the increased opportunities that will be available to the children and adults at LAMPS.

World Book Day

The official World Book Day this year is Thursday 1st March.  We will be celebrating this on both Thursday and Friday with a day of book related activities.  Because there will be pupils visiting UVHS on this day, we have decided to dress up for World Book day on Friday 2nd March.  Our theme for the day will be ‘Bed Time Stories’ and your children can come into school in their PJs or, they can bring in their favourite bed time story which they can then share with younger children in school.
