Gymnastics

Our 3 gymnastics teams competed again on Tuesday in the Furness Finals at Barrow Leisure Centre.  They performed fantastically with each team coming first once again.  This now means that they will progress to the County Finals in Penrith where they will represent Furness Small Schools.  Well done to all involved and thank you so much for the continued support.  Miss Stewart and Mrs Elliott were very impressed with how well the Key Steps 1 team knew the body management routine because they had been practicing it already at home.

Coniston 2 Barrow

For the fourth year running, our staff will be supporting the Coniston/Keswick to Barrow walk by marshalling the C2B start.  This year will be even more special because we have a group of children walking/running the event with Mrs Heap and Mrs Elliott.  Grace Heap, Zara Clough and Imogen Brettle are taking part and have named our school as their charity.  If you would like to offer them your support and sponsor them, the form is in the Children’s Entrance.

Parents’ Evening

We have 3 more weeks of term and they are extremely busy.  Not only are there many events happening within the school day but there are meetings, courses and events taking place during the evening which our teachers need to attend.  It is for this reason that we will be holding our Parent’s Evening meetings after Easter.  They will be on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th April.  Sign-up sheets will be in the Children’s Entrance week commencing 19th March.

However, Parent’s Evening for Year 2 and Year 6 will take place on Monday 26th March as Mr Procter and Miss Whyte would like an opportunity to discuss with parents how they have been preparing the children for their SATs and offer any advice and guidance to parents wishing to further support their child at home.  Sign-up sheets will be in the Children’s Entrance from next Monday afternoon.

Friends of LAMPS

Friends of LAMPS will be hosting a Coronation Hall Coffee morning on Thursday 15th March, 9.30. All are welcome. This is one of their significant annual fundraisers.

They would be extremely grateful for any donations of raffle/tombola prizes, cakes and books/bric a brac. Cakes can be brought into school on the morning for transportation or dropped off at the Coronation Hall on the day. If all other items can be brought into school beforehand that would be fantastic. We really appreciate your support in all our fundraising activities as your generous contributions ensure the Friends can organise a successful event.

Easter Fayre

The Friends are also organizing another event this term which the children are very excited about.  We will be holding an Easter Fayre in school on Wednesday 28th March from 2:45pm.  The fayre will include an Easter Egg hunt, egg decorating, games ran by the children, a raffle and tombola as well as tea and coffee for the adults.  More details will follow in next week’s newsletter.
