Outdoor Area

We were very disappointed at the weekend to come into school and find that the Reception outdoor area had been accessed and left in a poor state.  This area is locked at all times and could only be accessed by someone climbing over the wall or gate.  We are now considering whether there is the need to install CCTV to avoid this happening again.

KS2 Parent Meeting

We are holding an information evening on Thursday 24th May for our Key Stage 2 parents.  The purpose of this is to discuss arrangements for the York Residential (5-5:30pm)and following this presentation, there will be an opportunity to discuss the teaching arrangements for Key Stage 2 next year (5:30 – 6:00pm).  If your child is not attending the residential we would still encourage you to join us from 5:30pm.

SATs Week

Next week is SATs week for our Year 6 pupils.  This is when they will be taking their statutory tests which will be delivered each morning.  The children will be based in their classroom and it is essential that they are not disturbed.  You can support us and the children by making sure your child arrives in school on time.  The tests are timetabled to begin at 9am and any children arriving late and coming to the school office after this time are very likely to cause a distraction.  Thank you for your support.

KS2 children have been planning a celebration:

As you may know the royal wedding of Prince harry and Megan Markle is fastly approaching.  To celebrate we will be holding a royal wedding themed afternoon in which the children will be allowed to wear red, white and blue clothing.  This event will be taking place on Friday 19th May.  We ask that the children bring in a £1 donation which will go towards the cost of the afternoon.  The children will receive a celebration cake as well as crisps and a drink.  We think this is an ideal opportunity to reward all the children for their hard work this year but especially the Year 2 and Year 6 children for their hard work and perseverance during their SATs.

Thank you

I would like to send a special thank you to Mrs Heap, Mrs Smith, Mr and Mrs Brown and Mrs Satterthwaite.  On Wednesday this week Class 2 had a planned trip to The Manjushri Temple.  Unfortunately, we were let down by the coach company as their driver had called in sick and they had no cover.  We very nearly had to cancel the visit, but these fantastic parents stepped in at the last minute to help us transport the children.  We were very grateful that the children were not left disappointed and we were able to enjoy a successful trip.  Thank you!

Coniston 2 Barrow

On behalf of all the staff, governors, parents and pupils, I would like to wish good luck to Mrs Heap, Grace Heap, Imogen Brettle, Zara Clough and Mrs Elliott who are all taking part in the Coniston 2 Barrow tomorrow.  They have named LAMPS as their charity so we really appreciate their efforts and the many parents and members of the community who have sponsored them.  Myself and the staff will be marshalling on the day as usual and we’re very pleased that we’ll be able to wave them off as they go.
