We are very pleased to be welcoming 11 children to Reception in September.  Our transition afternoons will begin after half term and every Monday afternoon the new starters will be invited to LAMPS where they will access activities with Miss Stewart and get to know the other children in the class and the staff too.

Transition afternoons will take place right throughout the school with all the children spending time with the class teacher they will be working with next year.

Class Organisation

I met with many of our current Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 parents last night to discuss the organisation of these groups next year.

We are in a fortunate position to be able to increase Mrs Elliott’s teaching hours for the next academic year. This will mean there will be 3 class teachers to deliver English and Maths lessons to these 3 year groups.  We will be setting the children to ensure they receive targeted teaching which will enable better progress.  Information about what group your child will be in for these lessons will be provided in their end of year report.

For topic lessons in the afternoon, the children will be organised into their registration groups.  We have chosen to mix all 3 year groups and then split them into two Year 4/5/6 classes for registration.  This will mean children in these year groups could work with 2 different teachers within the school day.  The children have been involved in the decision of which group they will be with because we are keen to ensure they are grouped with their friends for this proportion of the day.

We are very excited about this different way of working and although it does mean changing our current routines, the changes will offer so many benefits to all the children.

You may have already seen on social media that Identity Uniform Shop is moving.  They will be moving to Furness Business Park, near to Furness College and the Vauxhall Garage and will be there from May 29th.

Outdoor Learning Day

We will be starting off half term, with an Outdoor Learning Day, We have improved our school grounds to make them more accessible and practical to use with the children.  Our Outdoor Learning Day will be a celebration of this.  Each adult in school will be planning an activity that will be delivered outside.  We will also be using cable reels donated by Mr and Mrs Brettle to create learning stations which the children have been busy designing.  Obviously the day will be weather dependent.  A text will be sent to parents over the weekend before we return to confirm that the day is taking place and what the children will need.  We are intending that the children be in their uniforms for the day.

Diary Dates

These are useful dates for your diary that will be added to each week.  More information about each event will be provided nearer the time.
