YMCA Lakeside – R/1/2 trip

Mrs Smith has been busy planning a day trip to the YMCA at Lakeside for the children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.  The trip will take place on July 6th and will cost approximately £20.  There will a letter with further details to come.

Ulverston Voices

The choir attended the Coronation Hall on Wednesday night to perform alongside a number of other local schools.  Their behaviour throughout was absolutely impeccable as always and their singing was a delight.  Although Mrs Hoekstra and I were very biased, we did think our pupils’ singing stood out from the rest!

School Dinners

I would like to apologise to the children affected by an issue we had with our school dinners today.  Unfortunately we were sent mouldy cheese for the jacket potato option and this had been served to a couple of pupils before it was noticed.  I would like to assure you that I am taking this matter very seriously and have already sent a complaint to Orian, who has the contract to provide our meals, and returned the cheese to the kitchen for them to see the evidence themselves.  If you would like to raise your own concern about this or any other matters regarding the quality of school dinners then please do put them in writing and I will ensure that the information is passed on to Orian.

Since joining the school in January, I have had to speak to a number of children about friendships and treating each other with kindness and respect.  I feel that this has become an issue that runs throughout the school, across all year groups, and it is something which I would like to re-address.  I will be reviewing the Anti-Bullying policy with staff and governors and then having a whole school focus on ‘Friendship’ which will involve assemblies and lessons dedicated to relationships, bullying and fostering a caring community.

Fun Run

We were very lucky with the weather this afternoon and the Fun Run was able to go ahead as planned, despite an early finish when the heavens opened!  I would like to thank all of you that sponsored your child (and any others), it is very much appreciated.  We will be collecting the Sponsor money on behalf of the Friends so if it can come into the office any time before Friday 19th June, that would be fantastic.

Extra – Curricular Clubs

The club timetable has been updated following some minor changes which have already been communicated throughout the week.  There will be a copy on display in the children’s entrance.

 K2B Sponsor Money

Many thanks to all those who have sponsored Mr Barnes for completing the Keswick to Barrow walk.  Almost all money has now been collected and any outstanding can be handed in at the office or to Mr Barnes or Mrs Langfield.
