Junior Citizen

Our Year 6 pupils have been invited to Barrow Fire Station on Thursday morning for the Junior Citizen programme where they will learn about the emergency services.  They will be accompanied by Mrs Hoekstra and Mrs Smith.  The children will leave at 10:30am and be back around 12:30pm so please can packed lunches be provided for them to have at school when they arrive back.  Dinner money for Year 6 pupils will then be £8.80 next week.

Dowdales Sporting events leaflet

Dowdales have provided us with some Summer Sports Camp leaflets.  The camp is available to pupils aged 5 to 13 years old and will run from Monday 20th July until Friday 24th, 10am – 3pm.  Activities include basketball, netball, football, athletics and tennis.  If you are interested in the camp for your child then please ask them to collect a leaflet in school.  Alternatively, Mrs Smith can be seen for more details.

 September 2015 Staff

Just two weeks into the half term and we have already been very busy with staff training, concerts and sporting events.  I am very pleased that our new teachers, Mr Procter (Year 3/4), Miss Hair (Year 2) and Miss Stewart (Year R/1) have been able to attend many events and plan to come to more before the end of the year. Miss Stewart will be spending the day with Class 1 on Friday 19th June which will be a fantastic opportunity for her to meet the new starters who will be in during the afternoon session.  The new staff members have also been invited to our Summer Concert and Sports Day so there will be plenty of opportunities for them to meet parents over the coming weeks.

 Sun hats, sun cream etc.

Hoping not to jinx the weather again, I would just like to say how pleased I am to see children wearing sun hats and bringing sun cream to school.  We have had some beautiful days this week and we do like to do as much learning outdoors as we can so, if buying sun cream, please look for those that last 12+ hours to be extra cautious.

School Dinners

Following the mishap with cheese last week, I have had a response from our providers to say that it was a problem with the suppliers.  The kitchen was visited and the cheese packaging checked and found to be in date but further investigation found other packages affected.  The problem has been with the supplier and other schools have had similar issues but hopefully this won’t happen again.
