This has been a very busy half term and the seven weeks seem to have flown by.  I am so pleased with how well all our new starters have settled into the school and made such a positive start to the school year.  We have had 3 school trips, a concert, several sporting events, a coffee morning, a harvest presentation in church and these are to name but a few things that have happened this term. It’s no wonder the children seem so tired!

Mrs Foote

Mrs Foote would like to thank everybody for their kind gifts and well wishes.  She leaves us today but with the promise that she will return to watch the children in their Christmas productions and for any future special events in school.  We wish her the very best in her retirement and hope that she enjoys being a lady of leisure because after spending 22 years being the heart of LAMPS, it is very much deserved.

Glaxo Smith Kline

I am very excited to tell you that we have received a £500 donation from GSK.  We are very fortunate to have such good links with GSK and have benefited recently from the use of their sports hall, visitors into school for science week and volunteers (organized by Mr Barnes) to help in the school garden and Mr Barnes has been kind enough to nominate us for this.  After a discussion with the Friends of LAMPS, we have decided that the money will go towards a new competition kit for the children to wear when attending sports events and competitions and also some smaller tracksuits as we are aiming for our younger children to become more involved in representing the school at events.  I intend to meet with the school council, Miss Hair and Mr Procter and ask them to help me choose a new colour shirt that will replace the usual PE top they currently wear and will complement our navy uniform.

I have been alerted this week to a number of issues regarding parking. Please could I ask that all parents who drive to school and park their cars outside, ensure that they are cautious when parking on the hill?  Can you be courteous to our neighbours and be careful not to block access to their own parking spaces or to the farmer’s gate?  Most importantly, always be wary and vigilant of our precious children who could be walking next to or behind cars at any time and are not always easily seen.

Mrs Hoekstra has asked me to inform all parents of children in Year 5 & 6 that they will need to bring a pair of leggings/PJ bottoms and 2 long sleeved tops.  These are required for their Monday swimming lesson the first day back.

Shoe Boxes

Please can I remind any parents who are intending on sending in a shoe box for the appeal, to bring it into school week commencing 2nd November as they are being collected on the 10th.
