Parents’ Evening

I’d like to thank all parents for attending Parents’ Evening this week.  It was lovely to meet with you all and be able to share with you the progress the children have made and how well they are working in general.  We will be repeating this again towards end of the Spring term but as always, we will make ourselves available if there is any need to discuss the children in the meantime.

Senior Citizens Harvest Tea

Despite the miserable weather, we had an excellent turn out for the Harvest Tea yesterday afternoon.  Our visitors thoroughly enjoyed listening to the choir sing and even joined in a few themselves.  I would like to thank Mrs Hoekstra for organizing the event once again and also all the class teachers who have planned baking sessions to provide cakes and biscuits.  Rainbows produced some beautiful table arrangements which were given as gifts and some members of the Brownies helped Miss Bleasdale and Mrs Thompson serve in order to work towards a badge.  All in all it was a lovely occasion and a fantastic example of the Lindal and Marton community spirit.

Shoe Box Appeal

The generosity shown with this year’s shoe box donations amazes me although I am told that the school usually do produce this many.  I would like to thank everyone who has brought a box in and I know that they will make such a difference to the girls and boys who will receive them this Christmas.

Children in Need

Continuing with the theme of charity, next Friday (13th November) is Children in Need.  We would like to support the event with a non-uniform day and ask for the children to bring in a donation of £1.

K2B Donation

You may remember that in May this year, myself and the staff helped to marshal the Coniston to Barrow start.  We were delighted to hear that the K2B committee selected our school, amongst many other organisations, to receive a donation.  I was invited to a presentation evening and was thrilled to receive a cheque for £700.  The school council will be discussing plans on how we can improve the school playground with games and equipment and this donation will help towards this project.
