Cool School of the Week

Thank you once again to Mr Mayou for nominating us for Cool School of the Week.  I hope you all managed to tune in and listen.  I am so proud of our children and how they spoke with confidence about all the things they enjoy, not forgetting Tom Mason’s vivid description of the mummification process which was particularly impressive. Thanks also to Mr Procter did a fabulous job showing Danny Matthews around the school and representing us very well.

Hatz off for the Hospice

Thank you for supporting St Mary’s Hospice today.  We raised £91 and the children enjoyed showing off their hats in assembly.  I have taken some fantastic pictures which will be emailed to St Mary’s and could possibly feature in The Evening Mail.  They will also be on our website for you to view.

Scarlet Fever

One of our pupils has been off school this week due to having Scarlet Fever.  Whilst Scarlet Fever tends not to be as serious an illness as it has been in the past, it is very contagious and, if not treated properly with antibiotics, there is a small risk of the infection spreading to other parts of the body and causing more serious infections, such as an ear infection, sinusitis, or pneumonia.

Scarlet fever usually follows a sore throat or a skin infection, such as impetigo.  Symptoms include:

  • a rash
  • swollen neck glands
  • loss of appetite
  • nausea or vomiting
  • a white coating on      the tongue
  • a general feeling of      being unwell

If your child is unwell and shows any of these symptoms then we suggest that you contact your GP immediately for further advice.  We are encouraging the children to practice good hygiene and ensure that they wash their hands properly and regularly so would appreciate your help reinforcing this at home.  Visit the NHS website for more information about Scarlet Fever by clicking the link below.
