I am pleased to tell you that after a very thorough recruitment process, we have appointed Miss Laura Whyte to the post of Class Teacher and she will join us from September 1st 2016.  Miss Whyte currently teaches a mixed Year 5/6 class in a school of a similar size to ours.  She has a keen interest in Computing and her degree specialism is Mathematics.  We are confident that Miss Whyte will be an excellent addition to our team.

Raffle Tickets

Lindal Pre School and Toddlers are holding a raffle to raise funds.  If you would like to support them, your child was given a book of raffle tickets today (1 per family) which can be bought or sold to friends and neighbours.  The raffle will be drawn next Friday.  Please return any sold tickets and money to the office or a member of the Pre School staff.

Refurbishments/School Developments

We would like to say a huge thank you to one of our parents, Mr Hutt.  Mr Hutt and his staff were kind enough to remove the wooden frame situated in the Early Years outdoor area which has saved the school £600.  We have been successful in an application to the National Lottery and been awarded funding to improve this area.  Miss Stewart has worked with designers to plan the project and the installation will begin Monday 9th May.  In addition to developments in this play area and the basketball posts in the upper playground, we are also having a section of the lower playground improved. This has been made possible by the continued fundraising efforts of the Friends of LAMPS and the continued generosity and support of all our parents which we are very grateful for.

Over the coming year, we are also hoping to refurbish certain areas of the school building, the toilets being one.  In order to make a start on this project we are in need of some advice and wondered if any of our parents work in the building and construction industry and could spare half an hour of their time to come into school and perhaps offer some advice on how to make best use of the space we have available.  Any help would be much appreciated.

New PE Shirt

As mentioned previously, we will be changing our PE shirt this year.  Rather than have a white, cotton T-shirt with a large logo, we will be moving to a navy polyester shirt with a small white logo.  The shirt will be on display in the entrance hall from next week.  It has been received very well by the children and staff.

Sports Day

Please note in the list of diary dates that there is now a change to the afternoon we plan to hold our Sports Day.  I have spoken to some parents to gage whether holding the event on a Friday afternoon would be preferable as it may be easier for parents to attend.  I would love to see as many supporters on the field as last year, if not more, so we have decided to change the date to Friday 8th July and we will begin at 1:15pm.  I hope this helps but apologize to any parents who had already booked the afternoon off.
