Can I give a huge thanks for the effort given to our Star Wars Day this week.  The children looked amazing in their outfits and it really did add to the excitement of our whole school science work on forces.

End of Day – Pixies/Unicorns

Due to the improvement works starting in the Reception play area, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 parents will need to collect the children from the main playground all next week.  We will bring the children out of the Visitor’s Entrance at the end of the day so if parents could wait by the rainbow tables, this would be very much appreciated.

Mrs Hoekstra and our Year 6 pupils have been working extremely hard preparing for the SATs (Standardized Assessment Tests) which they will sit next week.  I am sure all parents will join me in wishing them good luck (not that it is needed) and that the week runs smoothly for all.  There will be one or more tests delivered each morning with the final test being sat on Thursday.  We are very pleased to be having our ‘Playground Party’ on Friday next week as not only are we using the occasion to mark the Queen’s birthday but we will be celebrating the hard work and achievement of our Year 6 pupils at the end of what will be a challenging week for them.

It is essential that ALL pupils arrive on time next week to minimise disruption throughout the school at this important time.  If any Year 6 pupils are poorly or any extreme circumstances prevent them from coming into school then it is essential that we are informed with as much notice as possible so that the official procedures for absences during SATs week can be followed.

Our Year 2 pupils will also sit SATs tests this term however we have the whole month of May to deliver them and the conditions for sitting the tests are much more relaxed.  Further details of SATs tests for both Year groups can be found on the school website in the Newsletter section.

Tomorrow will be the 50th annual Keswick to Barrow walk.  Last year our staff were asked to act as Marshalls for the Coniston start which we thoroughly enjoyed so will be doing again this year. There will be 7 staff members travelling to Coniston at 6am where we will assist with the general organisation and safety of the C2B start.

We would like to wish good luck to any parents, pupils, friends and family who are participating in either the K2B or C2B walk this year.  We have our fingers firmly crossed for favorable weather conditions and hope you all have a safe and successful day.

We are finally beginning to see blue skies and sunshine at school and hopefully the temperatures will start to rise soon as well.  Can I please ask that parents check jumpers and cardigans to ensure that they are still named and that girls continue to wear sensible shoes.  Open toed sandals are not practical for the playground and we want to avoid injuries from trips and falls.

Parents should all now have received the photograph proofs from Anthony Wright.  Mr Wright has requested that all orders be received by Monday 16th May.  Class photos are available to view in the Children’s Entrance and cost £8.
