Teacher Strike

You may have seen in the news that the National Union of Teachers (NUT) have elected to strike on Tuesday 5th July.  We do have NUT members within the staff who may choose to strike on that day however alternative staffing arrangements can be made to cover any absences.  Whilst we will remain open, I fully support any strike action taken by our teachers and those in other schools as they stand against funding cuts which disadvantage our pupils and are continually increasing teacher workload and stress.

The Year 6 transition day to Dowdales and UVHS will not be affected by the strike.

Ulverston Voices

I would like to congratulate members of the KS2 choir who performed songs on stage last night at The Coronation Hall as part of the Ulverston Voices concert.  They performed alongside Low Furness CE Primary School, Church Walk CE Primary School, Pennington CE Primary School, St Mary’s Catholic School and Croftands Junior School.  All children sang and behaved very well.  It is always wonderful to work alongside other schools and we are looking forward to Key Stage 1 taking part in Ulverston Young Voices in the autumn term.

Fun Run

As you may know we made the decision to hold today’s Fun Run this morning rather than the original time of 1:30pm this afternoon.  I send apologies to anyone who was inconvenienced by this however, the weather was forecast to rain and, because we still have Sports Day, the Summer Concert, 2 school trips, the Summer Sports Fun Day at Glaxo and Leaver’s Assembly to fit in before the end of term, events such as this cannot be re-arranged easily.

The Fun Run was thoroughly enjoyed by all of the children.  I would like to congratulate all those who took part and gave 110% effort and also I would especially like to express my thanks to all those who have sponsored them.

Wizard of Oz

Please do not forget about The Wizard of Oz production at the Ulverston Coronation Hall on Thursday 29th September.  We would love to take as many of our pupils as possible to see this classic be performed by Ulverston Amateur Operatic Society. Tickets cost £10 for adults and children (parents are welcome to join us) and, if you’re interested, money can be sent into school before next Thursday.

Year 4/5 pupils who received Bikeability letters must return permission slips on Monday 4th July if you want your child to take part.  The slips are being collected by a member of the Bikeability organization that day.
