July 15th Newsletter
by Mrs Doran - Friday, 15 July 2016, 11:39 AM

This will be my last newsletter of this academic year and my last opportunity to thank you all for your continued support.  I often reflect on how lucky I am to lead a school where the children are so hard working and well-mannered and with parents who are so committed to working in partnership with us.  We have had a very busy year with many changes which I hope you will all agree, are for the better.  Included with this newsletter is a Parent Questionnaire similar to one you might receive if we were to have a visit from OFSTED.  The purpose of the questionnaire is to assist me in evaluating the year and also it will help me plan for future school improvements.  Your feedback is very important to us.

Extra-Curricular Activities

There will be no extra-curricular clubs next week.  Clubs will re-start the week commencing 12-09-16.  There is an extra-curricular club timetable on the school website which will enable you to see the clubs available for September. A letter with a consent slip will be sent out in the first week.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed their 12 weeks of karate and Sensei Steve and Linda have had nothing but praise for their efforts and the progress they have made.  The children would like to give you a demonstration so you can see for yourselves how well they have done.  This will take place on Tuesday 19th at 2:30pm.  Because of limited space in the hall, the demonstration will take place in the top playground and will therefore be weather dependent.  We hope you can join us.

Leaver’s Assembly

Mrs Hoekstra and Year 6 have been working hard to prepare for their Leaver’s Assembly.  The assembly will begin at 1:30pm and is for Year 6 parents/grandparents only.

Can I please remind you of the uniform requirements for the next academic year.  I have had a number of queries.

Mrs Hoekstra

I would like to say a final thank you and farewell to Mrs Hoekstra who only has one more week left with us before she retires.  Mrs Hoekstra has been a very hard working and committed teacher who has been a very important part of this school for a very long time and we shall all miss her dearly.  We are very fortunate though as Mrs Hoekstra will continue as a governor of the school which will mean she will still be involved and be able to support all of our future developments.

Summer Sports at Glaxo

A reminder of the arrangements for Glaxo on Monday:

  • Children need to arrive at Glaxo Leisure Centre for 8:50am.
  • The children should dress appropriately for sport and the weather.
  • A drinks bottle and packed lunch are required.  Packed lunches ordered through school will be brought by staff on the day.
  • Any inhalers/medication required should be in a named bag/envelope and passed to your child’s class teacher or Mrs Gallagher when they are dropped off.
  • Children should be collected from Glaxo at 3:15pm.
  • Any children who require Breakfast and After-school club provision and will therefore need school staff to transport them on the day must have completed and returned the consent slip this week.  If you know transport is required and you have not returned the slip then please email school.  Not only do we need consent to transport children, we need to ensure we have enough cars for the number of children.

Thank you!

I would just like to say a special thank you to those parents who have supported us this year by coming into school to listen to readers, those who have attended school trips and also given lifts transporting children to the many sporting events.  I’d also like to thank our parents who have supported lessons, and those who taught some too!  Thank you to Mr Kilty for pictures taken on sports day, they are now on our website for all to see and enjoy.

Can I also thank Mrs Heap who has organized fundraising for the school through the Abbey House Hotel’s Summer Ball and the Friends of LAMPS who have organized so many events this year which have raised funds which benefit all our pupils in a number of different ways.  I cannot emphasise enough how much this work is appreciated and how grateful I am to all our parents and the wider community who continually support these events through their donations and generosity.
