Ulverston Voices
Key Stage 1 enjoyed a night of singing on Thursday evening this week. They performed at The Coronation Hall alongside other schools from Dalton and Ulverston as part of the Ulverston Voices event organised by the Cumbria Music Hub. Using words from one of our parents in the audience, ‘they looked and sounded great and it was clear by their faces they were happy and confident to be performing on stage.’ I would like to thank Mrs Lawson for all of her effort and hard work, Mrs Dalziel and Mrs Jarvis for giving up their time and all the parents who supported us on the evening.
Gymnastics
We have had a very successful afternoon today at DASH. Today was the small schools’ gymnastic competition ordganised by Louise Thornton at Dowdales. We took two Key Steps 3 teams made up of Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, one Key Steps 2 team for Year 3 and Year 4 pupils and one Key Steps 1 team of Year 1 and Year 2 pupils. Our children were amazing! Every single one of them tried their very best. Their focus and the effort they have given to perfecting their routines is outstanding. I am very happy and proud to report that two teams came first, one team came second and another team came third. As usual, our gymnastics success is a whole school effort but I’d especially like to thank Mrs Smith who has continued to support us and given up a lot of her time to help and advise.
Siemens
Ambassadors from Siemens Subsea have visited the school again. Dave, Rob and Mike came in on Wednesday this week and delivered a science workshop to Class 1 and then Class 2 and next week they will return to work with our junior classes. It was wonderful to hear from the children what a great session they had and I was very impressed when they could tell me the difference between thermoset and thermoplastic! You learn something new every day!
Packed Lunches
Just a quick reminder, we have a pupil in school with a serious nut allergy so have adopted a nut free policy. Please ensure that there are no foods included in your child’s packed lunch that contain nuts or traces of nuts. We have had a couple of instances of children bringing in sandwiches with Nutella spread in them and also cereal bars containing nuts. Please help us to keep all of our children safe and well.
