Lindal & Marton Primary School
LAMPS is a popular and successful non-denominational school in the village of Lindal-in-Furness. The school retained its cherished “Outstanding School” status at its latest Ofsted inspection in December 2011. The staff, governors and pupils at LAMPS are proud of our family ethos, and we value the opportunity to welcome you to our school.
LAMPS offers a safe, caring environment, and provides a wealth of learning opportunities that ensures that each child develops socially, academically and emotionally. We are confident that you will find a community where standards of behaviour and respect for others are given the highest priority; where every child is encouraged to strive to achieve their best, and above all an environment where children are happy and eager to learn. If you have not already done so, you are very welcome to visit the school by arrangement.
Learning, Ambition, Motivation and Perseverance lead to Success.

I would like to say a huge thank you for the donations of cakes we received for our Harvest Afternoon Tea. There was a superb selection on offer and we were able to sell some left overs in Tuck Shop today. Your support is always appreciated.
Just a reminder that Parents’ Evenings will take place on the Monday and Tuesday evening of the first week back. As usual the children’s books will be available in the school hall for you to read either before or after meeting with the class teacher. If you require a meeting longer than 10 minutes then please make another appointment with the class teacher. This will ensure appointments run to time and avoid any parents having to wait longer than necessary.
There will be no extra-curricular clubs on Tuesday 30th October due to staff meeting with parents.
The number of children we are seeing in school with Fitbits or step trackers is increasing every day. We think it is fantastic that our pupils are becoming more and more conscious about how active they are and we would like to further promote this throughout the school. We have purchased 20 trackers. Every week 4 children from each class will be randomly chosen to wear a tracker for 1 week. The four children will record their steps daily and their overall amount will contribute to a class score. The winning class will be announced each week and the pupils recognized for their activities. Each child who wears a tracker will be responsible for recording their daily count. Younger children may require support with this from a parent.
The children of LAMPS are very active both in and out of school. The aim of introducing step trackers is so that all pupils can have a go at tracking their steps and become more aware of the activities they already do that benefit their health and fitness levels. The trackers are stand-alone devices. They do not use Bluetooth technology nor do they connect to a computer.
Lindal Pre-School are organizing a Halloween Disco to be held on Thursday 25th October at Buccleuch Hall. The Pre-School and Toddlers’ disco is from 3pm until 4:30pm with the disco for school age children being 5:30pm until 7pm. Please see their Facebook page for further details.
Lindal Village Firework Display
Lindal’s annual firework display will take place this year on Saturday 3rd November at The Cricket Club on Pennington Lane. Doors will open from 6pm and the display will start at 7pm. Admission for adults is £3 and £2 for children. Proceeds go to the Senior Citizens Christmas Party so please do support this local event.
Just a polite reminder about parking and dropping off outside school. Parents must not park on the red areas. Also, please refrain from parking in the spaces across the road that are specifically for residents of School Terrace. Cars should not stop in the middle of the road for children to jump out as this is especially dangerous, particularly if those cars then reverse into the School Terrace parking area to turn around as there may be children crossing. If your child is old enough to walk themselves into school then consider dropping them off by The Green where drivers can easily circulate and the children can walk safely up the path.
These are useful dates for your diary that will be added to each week. More information about each event will be provided nearer the time.
