Miss Whyte
As this will be my last newsletter until next term, I would just like to say a huge thank you and goodbye to Miss Whyte who leaves us next week. Miss Whyte joined our team in September 2016 and has been a very popular member of staff with both children and adults. We will all miss her excellent sense of humour and I have no doubt the children will miss her teaching too.
I would like to thank Miss Whyte for the work she has done as Maths Subject Leader and also her efforts to improve outdoor learning across the school. She has never professed to being a keen gardener but it never prevented her from providing the children with a Gardening Club and organizing the Outdoor Learning Day which the children absolutely loved. Miss Whyte worked with her dad to install the tyre trail which will be a lasting tribute that the children enjoy using now, and will continue to in the years to come.
Thank you Miss Whyte for everything you have done for the school. We will miss you when you move to Dubai but hope you will keep in touch and let us know about all your future adventures.
Teaching Arrangements
Mrs Lawson will be absent for some time in the spring term due to having an operation on her foot. Her absence will be covered by supply teacher, Mr David Pegg. Mr Pegg has come to us very highly recommended by Cumbria Teaching Agency. He is Early Years trained and his passion for teaching was very evident when he visited the school to work with Class 1 last week. Mr Pegg will be with us on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning next week so if you are a parent of a pupil in Class 1, please feel free to say hello and introduce yourself.
We will be interviewing for a new class teacher to share the teaching of Class 2 with myself on January 21st with the expectation that the successful candidate will take up the post on February 25th, after the half term break. As we will already have one supply teacher in school covering Class 1, I have decided that I will teach full time in Class 2 until we have recruited. If any Class 2 parents have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank You
I would just like to finish the year by saying a heartfelt thank you. I feel tremendously lucky to be the Headteacher of a school with such wonderful, hardworking pupils and such supportive and willing parents. I have lost count of the number of times I have told people what an amazing school this is because of the strong partnerships we have. From the Friends who work tirelessly to raise money for the school, to the parents who help in class, help transport the children and to those that give up their time taking them to events outside of school hours; the list is endless. Thank you all so much for everything you do.
I’d also like to say a special thank you to Jane Smith who has now given up the role as Chair of the Friends of LAMPS which she has done for nearly 4 years. Mrs Smith has been instrumental in raising thousands of pounds for the school and her determination to ensure that the money is spent on providing experiences and opportunities for the children as well as purchasing resources is commendable. They have undoubtedly benefited a great deal from all her efforts!
