OFSTED

The school underwent its first OFSTED inspection this week since December 2011.  It was a very busy two days but the inspector was supportive throughout and, as a staff team, we worked together to present all the strengths of the school.  Whilst we have received verbal feedback and an overview of the judgments made, this is provisional and will not be confirmed in writing for at least two weeks meaning we are unable to make any comment at this time.  You will receive a copy of the report as soon as we have the final draft.  I would like to thank all those who completed the Parent View survey.  The inspector was complimentary of the positive feedback given by parents.

Lego League

Two weeks ago Mr Procter took a team of Year 5 and Year 6 pupils to Furness College to take part in the Lego League competition.  The children worked for weeks in STEM Club to design and program a robot to conduct a series of tasks and maneuvers.  The children also had the task of delivering a presentation and were judged on their conduct and teamwork. We were thrilled when they returned from the competition with a trophy for the best robot design.  Although they were not the overall winners of the competition, they did receive very high praise from the organisers.

Class 3 and Class 4 Dance

The children have been working with a dance coach, Nicola (from Stephenson School of Dance, Ulverston) in preparation for the Dance Platform festival which takes place on Wednesday 13th February at UVHS. The children have loved their sessions and the dances are amazing! We have one group performing a pirate themed dance and the other PE group are performing a Matilda themed dance. Tickets are being sent home with the children today.  There is one ticket available for free for each family and, if required parents can purchase further tickets from UVHS.  Details regarding what clothes the children require for the performance were provided in a letter but if you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Elliott.
