Friday 28th Newsletter

School Council
Our School Council representatives have been elected for this academic year and we have a fantastic group of children who will be working with myself and Mr Procter to improve different areas of school. Their first task is to promote recycling and looking after our school environment and there has been some great work done on this already this term. I am also looking forward to involving the children in a project to install a climbing frame in the school garden by Playdale. This is a project funded by The Friends and we are very excited to use their fundraising to further improve our outdoor space.

Friends of LAMPS
Mrs Brettle has been busy organizing another Bingo Night that will take place at Buccleuch Hall this evening. The money raised tonight will be donated to Rainbows and Brownies which many of our children attend so please do show your support. There will be a Prize Bingo Night for LAMPS next month and this promises to be a fantastic event so tickets are being sold and I am sure they will sell quickly!

Mrs Smith has begun organizing the Christmas raffle and has been approaching businesses to donate a prize. If you know of any business or organization that would be willing to donate, or are able to donate a prize yourself then please let us know. The Christmas raffle is an excellent fundraiser and we always utilize the funding received on improving the provision and experiences for all children.

Christmas Pantomine
We will be taking the whole school to the Forum 28 again this year to watch Snow White so please bear this in mind before you book tickets yourself. The trip is heavily subsidized by Friends which we are very grateful for.

Reading Raffle
It was fantastic to see almost all children entered into the reading raffle this week and nearly all that weren’t only missed out due to not having signatures in their book or only three entries instead of four. Regular reading has a very positive impact on a child’s progress so I am really pleased that the majority of our pupils are so well supported at home. Thank you.

Homework – Class 3 and Class 4
I would like to say a massive well done to our top classes this week. Mr Procter set them a task which involved designing a plaque written using the Ancient Greek alphabet. The standard of homework brought in was amazing! We had wooden plaques, some made from clay and even some from slate. There were letters designed with Hama beads, buttons and some were beautifully drawn and coloured. The effort given to this work was wonderful and our pupils showed them off very proudly in assembly this morning. We have posted some pictures on our website for you to see.
