KS2 Residential Trip
Fussell’s Travel Service have organised another successful residential trip for our pupils this year. This week 35 pupils have enjoyed three days in Eskdale participating in a valley walk, ride on The Ratty, a full day of water sports and a visit to Muncaster Castle and grounds. Despite the variable reception levels, staff have managed to keep us updated regularly and both adults and children have had a great time. They have all come back exhausted but happy. Pictures of the trip can be seen on Twitter or our school website. Next year we will be organizing a city trip to Edinburgh.
Also happening this term is the YMCA trip for Class 1 and Class 2 and a visit to Fell Foot for Class 3 and Class 4. More information will be sent through ParentMail nearer the time.
Non-Uniform Day – June’s Jogle
I have asked the school council to organize a non-uniform day on Thursday next week so that we can help one of our grandparents who is currently fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society. June Mayou (Grandmother of Harry and Oliver) has almost finished her 880 mile walk from John 0 Groats to Land’s End. She began her walk on 17th April and has been walking, on average, 20 miles per day with the aim of reaching Land’s End on her 65th birthday. Our KS2 children have been following her journey which has helped improve their knowledge of the UK.
Please can the children come into school on Thursday 13th June in non-uniform clothes for a minimum donation of £1. We would love to contribute to Mrs Mayou’s fundraising; we think she is inspiring!
Sponsored Fun Fitness
Next Thursday we will be holding our sponsored Fun Fitness event organised by the Friends of Lamps. The children will be given their sponsor forms on Monday. Weather permitting, we will be taking the whole school to the field in the afternoon for 60 minutes of activity. They will have a choice of running laps, dancing or multi-skill activities. The aim for them is to complete as close to the 60 minutes non-stop activity as possible.
Today we held our first transition afternoon where we welcome new starters due to join Reception in September. The children will join us on a Friday for the next 4 weeks and this will give them the opportunity to meet their classmates, the staff and also get used to the new environment. We also use these afternoons as an opportunity for the other children to spend time in next year’s teaching groups.
No reading raffle this week due to so many children being out on residential but all the children who had read during half term and this week were awarded a Dojo.
