KS2 Residential Trip – Eskdale

All parents of pupils attending the trip should now have received an electronic copy of all the paperwork and hard copies too.  The hardcopy forms need to be completed and returned.  Unfortunately, there were a few errors in the letter which had not been noticed.  These include the date, the contact number for the centre and a reference was also made to Brockole gift shop.  We have requested a correct copy to be sent and these will be emailed to parents as soon as we receive them.  Apologies for any confusion caused.

There will be a brief presentation for parents on Monday at 4:45pm.  If you are unable to attend then please feel free to speak to myself or Mr Procter regarding any queries you may have.

SATs Week

I would like to say a huge well done to the Year 6 pupils who sat their statutory assessment tests this week.  They have approached this week with a very positive attitude.  They were happy and confident after completing each test which was lovely to see and some pupils even complained that they were too easy! We know that they all performed their very best and that is all that matters to us.

Sports Day

We have planned our Sports Day for next Friday afternoon.  At present, the forecast for the day is dry and we hope it will remain that way.  If the weather is wet, we will aim to make a decision and let you know by 11am.

Worms

We have had a report from a parent that they have needed to treat their child for worms.  Please observe your child for symptoms and treat if necessary.

Sports

Well done to our Year 3/4 cricket team who were taken to Dalton Cricket Club for the Kwik Cricket competition.  Mr Procter said that the children showed fantastic team spirit and all gave their best efforts…and it paid off because they won!!!  Well done to all involved.

Can I also say a huge thank you to the many parents who have helped transport to competitions this term.  I am especially thankful to those who have transported their own and other children to the cross country today.  Being an event that includes so many children, it would have been incredibly difficult for us to organize lifts for all who wanted to attend.

Mental Health Week

This week is Mental Health Week.  Myself and the staff have received some training on children’s mental health from the Public Health Service and I also attended Mental Health First Aider training on Tuesday.  Mrs Jarvis has been working with Year 5 to discuss online safety and I have attached a poster to the email providing information on how social media impacts on mental health if you feel it is appropriate to share with your child.
