Keswick/Coniston 2 Barrow Update

Last week I wrote and informed you that we had been presented with a cheque for £1000.  We have now received another donation of £500 which has come from additional money raised through sponsors.  This is wonderful and the combined total will enable us to make some great improvements to our outdoor area. Thanks once again to everyone who contributed.

Children in Need Day

The children were all very excited to come into school in non-uniform today, especially those wearing their Pudsy accessories.  Thank you for sending in a donation.   I would also like to thank

Mr Procter for working with the school council to organize the competition and the uniform sale.  We will also be adding the profits from today’s tuck shop to the overall amount raised.

Sports

Last Friday, Mr Procter and Mrs Brettle took our Year 3/4 hockey team to Dowdales to compete against other schools in the Furness area.  We were thrilled with their performance and the fact that, once again, another one of our teams brought back medals.

This week, Mrs Smith and Mrs Brettle took our Year 5/6 athletics team to Furness College where they competed against more than 20 other big and small schools from Barrow, Dalton, Askam and Ulverston.  They came 4th overall which we think is an amazing achievement.  Mrs Marshall and Mrs Smith, who have been delivering the athletics club, were especially proud and we thank them for their support as it is their contribution that has enabled us to participate in this event.

School Dinners

Please can I remind parents how important it is to order your child’s dinner if you want them to have one.  Mrs Brettle is having to spend a great deal of time each day checking every class to ensure the children who need a dinner have one pre-ordered.  This wouldn’t be necessary if children having no lunch ordered wasn’t such a common occurrence.  There may well be days when Mrs Brettle is on a course or attending a meeting and there will be no one available to spend this time checking and ordering. This will result in your child not having a lunch at 12pm and could mean a request that you bring something in for them.  If you are experiencing any problems with the Dolce online ordering system, then please make us or Dolce aware so it can be rectified.
