Keswick/Coniston 2 Barrow

On Wednesday this week, I attended the Keswick 2 Barrow presentation and awards evening and I was thrilled to be presented with a cheque for £1000.  It was a great evening and wonderful to hear from the many charities and organisations that benefit from the thousands of pounds raised by the many walkers.  I would like to thank all the staff and parents who supported our fundraising efforts.  We had staff members, parents and pupils who either walked or marshalled the event and many, many sponsors from friends and families so thank you to you all.

We hope to register teams again this year so if you would like to join in then please see myself or Mrs Brettle, Alternatively, you may want to help with marshalling or supporting our walkers which would also be fantastic.

Reading Raffle

Just a quick reminder to parents about our Reading Raffle.  To be entered into the Reading Raffle, the children need to read at home at least 4 times over the week and these reading entries must be signed by a parent.  For older children, who may prefer to read independently, we still require a signature from parents because we feel that this sends the message that regular reading at home is valued.  We do hope that younger children, and those who find reading a little more difficult, are able to spend time with their parents reading their books (or in some cases, being read to) as this will help them improve their skills and develop an interest in books and reading.

Drama Club

Miss Shepherd has asked me to inform you that three spaces have become available in Drama Club and these will be given to the first three children who give her a signed note to say they are able to attend.  If your child would like to join and you are happy for them to do so, write a note to give permission and send it to the office or to Miss Shepherd with your child.

Children in Need Day

The school council have been working with Mr Procter to plan some fundraising activities for Children in Need.  They have chosen to raise money with a non-uniform day, a Pudsey drawing/colouring competition and a uniform sale.

  • Non-uniform day – this will take place on November 15th and the children can come to school in non-uniform for a donation of £1.
  • Pudsey drawing/colouring competition – KS1 children can enter a colouring competition and KS2 children can enter the drawing competition.  Sheets are available any morning from Class 4 and cost 50p each.
  • Uniform Sale – we have had a number of uniform items donated to school that are in excellent condition, too good for spares, and we would like to sell them for a very reasonable price in order that they get some more wear.  The School Council will be running a uniform shop on Friday 15th November in the morning and at 3:15pm.  If you have any items of clothing you would like to donate, please feel free to bring them in by Wednesday 13th.

End of Term Performances

All children have all been given their scripts and rehearsals have begun.  KS1 parents, please look out in bags for details of what costume your child requires.  If you foresee any difficulties, then just let us know as we do have some spare nativity costumes in storage.  We would appreciate it if the children could be supported learning their lines and also looking after their scripts.  We had to replace a number of them this afternoon which takes up time and wastes paper.
