Thank You
Please can I say a huge thank you to all the parents that baked or brought in cakes for the Harvest Tea. There was a wonderful array of treats that we were able to offer our grandparents and a fair few were enjoyed by staff and pupils too! Thank you so much for your support.
Christmas Raffle
As you may have seen on The Friends’ Facebook page, one of our wonderful grandparents has donated a £250 cash prize to be given away in the LAMPS Christmas raffle. This is an amazing gesture showing such fantastic support for our school which we are all very grateful for. If you would like to donate a prize then please see Christina or contact the school office. We have some great star prizes but bottles of wine, chocolates and toiletries are just as well received. Tickets will be on sale after half term and will be sent home with the children.
Edinburgh Residential
We have 30 children from Year 4/5/6 signed up for the Edinburgh residential trip next summer which means we have 15 spaces available if any Year 3 pupils would like to go. The cost of the trip is £236 for the 3 days and 2 nights stay, but parents can pay in installments. Mrs Brettle will send details to Year 3 parents via Parentmail when we return after the half term break.
Teaching Assistant Apprentice
I am very pleased to tell you that we will have a new member of staff starting after Half Term. We have recruited a Teaching Assistant Apprentice and he will be working with us full time to support in all classes across the school as well as in extra-curricular clubs.
Tag Rugby
Well done to our Tag Rugby team who competed today at Dowdales School this afternoon. We were once again crowned champions of the Furness Schools.
Mr Procter has asked me to mention sports kits and our dwindling supplies. We only have 3 pairs of football socks from a set of 15 and today the children have had to borrow from others or bring in their own. Please can you have a look at home for any of the school’s sportswear and return any items before we spend valuable resources replacing them.
Water Bottles
As well as bringing in their own drinks bottles, the children have access to fresh, cooled water from our water fountain. We have noticed lately that supplies of the paper cups for this fountain are not lasting as long as they used to. This is for several reasons. Sometimes the children take more than 1 accidently, sometimes additional cups fall out and are then thrown in the bin and, very occasionally, some children are taking cups out purposefully to mess around with. In the interests of the environment, and to save money, we are now asking for children to bring in a named water bottle that they can take to the fountain and fill up as we will no longer be purchasing the paper cups.
School Applications
Just a quick reminder to our Year 6 parents – secondary school applications need to be submitted by October 31st.
Extra-Curricular Clubs
There will be no clubs on after school on the first Monday and Tuesday when we come back. This is due to Parents’ Evenings.
All clubs will remain the same until Christmas with the exception of Drama Club and Choir. Because there were so many children who wanted to attend Drama Club but couldn’t, Miss Shepherd agreed to swapping and having these pupils attend after half term instead. Information will be sent out on the first Monday back.
With regard to Choir, at present we only have 11 children from Year 3-6 attending which makes visits to sing in the community very difficult, especially if all children do not attend. Therefore, we would like to open Choir up to the Year 2 pupils. It takes place on Tuesday morning at 8:15am. Again, more information will be sent home on the Monday we return to school.
