Lindal & Marton Primary School

LAMPS is a popular and successful non-denominational school in the village of Lindal-in-Furness. The school’s overall effectiveness was rated as “Good” at its latest Ofsted inspection in January 2019. The staff, governors and pupils at LAMPS are proud of our family ethos, and we value the opportunity to welcome you to our school.

LAMPS offers a safe, caring environment, and provides a wealth of learning opportunities that ensures that each child develops socially, academically and emotionally. We are confident that you will find a community where standards of behaviour and respect for others are given the highest priority; where every child is encouraged to strive to achieve their best, and above all an environment where children are happy and eager to learn. If you have not already done so, you are very welcome to visit the school by arrangement.

Learning, Ambition, Motivation and Perseverance lead to Success.

Hello! We are Linda and Martin, and we'd like to welcome you to our school.

Refugee Support

One of our parents, Mrs Lingard, has been giving her time to help Furness Refugee Support (FRS).  This is group comprised of local volunteers who have led the response in south Cumbria to the unfolding refugee crisis sparked by the Syrian Civil War. Mrs Lingard wondered whether we would be able to offer some help.  She explained that these families are in dire need of aid in the form of clothes, kitchen utensils and toys or anything else that we may have that are no longer needed or just taking up space.  If you are planning on having a ‘spring clean’ any time soon and have anything to donate that you may otherwise throw out, please know that Mrs Lingard would be very happy to take them to the families who are in need.  Just drop them into school.  This would be a wonderful way to show our support for those who are less fortunate and have been through such a terrible time.

Mrs Erswell

Just a reminder that Mrs Erswell, our new class teacher for Year 2/3, will be starting with us after half term.  Mrs Erswell will take on the teaching of Class 2 in the afternoons.  I am sure you will make her feel very welcome to our school community.

Dance Platform

Class 3 and Class 4 performed their dances in the Dance Platform event at UVHS on Wednesday evening this week.  The children have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of learning their routines and Nicola, their dance coach, said they have been wonderful to work with.  Thank you to both Mr Procter and Mrs Elliott for the extra time and effort given to ensure our pupils could take part in this event.

Young Voices

We took our Young Voices choir to Manchester last night so they could sing alongside over 6000 other school children.  It is a tough day that involves a three hour rehearsal of singing and dancing followed by a two hour performance.  Our children were fabulous.  Their behaviour throughout the whole day was impeccable; I could not have been any prouder!  Thank you so much to the parents who have supported their children taking part in this event and also to those joining us on the day.

Friends

A Friends of LAMPS meeting took place this afternoon and is was great to see some new faces.  With more than £3000 in the bank, we discussed some spending requests and The Friends have agreed to purchase some books, posters and resources to support the wider curriculum subjects such as Geography and RE, some new dictionaries for Key Stage 2 and some that are more appropriate for Key Stage 1 and also some new equipment for teaching programming and control in Computing.  We also discussed planning a ‘treat’ for all the children such as a skills workshop, dancers or a theatre group who could come into school in the summer term.  If you have any ideas for spending or fundraising, then please let myself or Kim Brettle know.
